✨ What is the Root Chakra?
The root chakra, or Muladhara, is located at the base of the spine. Its name comes from Sanskrit: “mula” meaning “root” and “adhara” meaning “support” or “foundation.” This energy center governs our sense of:
- Safety and security – feeling at home in our body and in the world.
- Groundedness – being able to return to center when life feels overwhelming.
- Belonging – trusting that we have a place and a purpose here.
When balanced, the root chakra helps us feel steady and resilient, able to face life’s challenges with calm strength. When blocked or imbalanced, we may feel anxious, scattered, or disconnected — as if the ground beneath us is shaky.

Think of your life as a home. Without a strong foundation, even the most beautiful structure will wobble under pressure. The same is true for us: if we skip grounding practices and only focus on “rising” — achieving, reaching, expanding — we may burn out, lose direction, or feel untethered.
