What am I submitting to?

To the Soul In Space Mag, art/lit mag. This is not the blog, it is another publication that will be available on the website. The Soul In Space (mag) has a goal much like the mission statement; to create a space that spotlights Black and Indigenous creatives and to spark conversations surrounding Decolonization, Black Liberation, and Indigenous Sovereignty.

What can I submit?

You can submit, creative non-fiction, essays, poetry, fiction, etc… There is also the option for other forms of art like music, videography, digital art, and other methods of visual art.

It is asked that submissions steer towards the mission statement, but this isn’t a hard rule. We do honor everyone’s truths and of course welcome anything that honors yours :).

What do I need to send with my submission?

• Please title your email Mag Submission - Your Name, Title

• A photo (optional)

• Please send your bio (with preferred pronouns), social media handles and any other links.

Okay, great! What’s the deadline?

The mag publishes once a year and takes submissions once a year.

• July 1st - July 31st for BIPOC creators only

• August 1st - August 31st for Allies

Where do we send our submissions?

Who can submit?

Everyone can submit but please follow the correct dates above. BIPOC creators are able to submit for the entire submission period. However, Allies are able to submit the second month of the submission period.

Can Non-Black or Non-Indigenous POCs submit?

Yes!

Can Allies submit?

Yes!In the second month of submissions.
